waiting with bated breath
By stanvir | May 7, 2007
As I pore over various news reports about the outpouring of mass support for the suspended Chief Justice of Pakistan Supreme Court, a nagging question tugs at my heart. When is it going to happen? What event, what gathering is going to be the last straw?
As I rejoice at the courage of people ranging from secularists, liberals and moderates to religious, fanatics and fundamentalists for taking to the street in the blistering temperatures, I can not help but wonder when is the Army going to decide enough is enough?
When are they going to fire the first shot? Where are they going to open fire first? Who is going to be the first persion killed by the Armed Forces to suppress people’s will?
The Pakistan Army is used to combating its own people. They are used to killing Pakistanis without any compunctions. They may have lost on the battle fields against the Indian Armed Forces, they are very capable when it comes to conquering the land they were sworn to serve and protect.

My Dear Asim sahib,
I am so grateful for your passionate comments. You must forgive me for using English in the post and the comment but writing in urdu demands more time which I do not have most of the time.
But you can always comment in Urdu.
